We are Pattaya's only family-run British PADI dive centre. Dave Chandler
(now retired) started it all more than 20 years ago when he came
to Pattaya on holiday and decided to learn to dive. He enjoyed it so
much that he sold his publishing company, retired early and emigrated to
Thailand.
Later sons Neil and Peter followed him out from
England and he trained them to become PADI instructors. Dave ran Elite
Divers, which later changed it's name to Diving Thailand.
Neil and Peter
opened Real Divers in 2004 and later linked their business to Diving
Thailand to make Diving Thailand with Real Divers. Dave's Thai
wife Gift runs the marketing and also organises trips for holidaymakers
to swim with trained dolphins.
The scuba training team is headed up by by Neil and
Peter at Real Divers, in Beach Road, Jomtien, just south of bustling
Pattaya. Neil and Peter are two of Pattaya's most experienced divers
with a 100 per cent safety record after thousands of dives on all the
local sites.
They have day trips to Pattaya's
offshore islands and also to Samaesan, 45 minutes by road south.
They can take you out for a wreck dive followed by a
reef dive if your are an Advanced Diver. If not, then why miss out on
the fun - take the AOW course in warm water.
Why
Pattaya ?
Pattaya is a great place to learn to dive, with good coral reefs in
5-10metres and water that stays around 30c for most of the year. But it
is not world class diving and many divers come to Pattaya because it
offers so much more for the non-divers in the family. It also offers a
much softer "culture shock" for Westerners who have never been to
Thailand before.
They can buy the food they are used to in their own country as there are
many restaurants run by expats
from nearly every corner of the world. There are three international
hospitals, department stores, multi-plex cinemas and the best
value-for-money hotels to be found anywhere in the world.
The non-divers in your group can do anything from driving a hot racing kart, play
world class golf, go deep-sea fishing, bungee jump, paintball wars, microlite flying, crocodile farms, tropical gardens, sapphire mines,
visit Thai temples ...and then there is the
world-famous Pattaya nightlife scene.
After unwinding and devoting some time to the family and enjoying a few
day trips to the coral islands off Pattaya you might think about moving
on to Phuket or Koh Tao, which at the right time of the year, can offer
great diving. But check with us first to ensure that conditions down
there are OK as Pattaya is the only Thai venue that enjoys year-round
diving.
We can recommend or book you in with dive shops we know and trust in
those areas.
